The Navigator Company

The Navigator Company (the former Portucel Soporcel Group) is a leading international name in the pulp and paper industry.

With strong roots in Portugal, the company is a top contributor to the country's economy. Its importance is reflected in the sustainable management of close to 120 thousand hectares of forest and turnover in excess of 1.6 billion euros.

Keenly aware that woodlands are crucial to the sustainability of its business, The Navigator Company manages its forest holdings in keeping with highest standards of planning and management, as verified by the international certification systems run by the FSC® (license no. FSC-C008924) and the PEFC™ (PEFC/13-23-001).

With a history stretching back more than half a century, The Navigator Company today accounts for approximately 1% of Portugal's gross domestic product and around 3% of its exports of goods.

The company currently boasts four industrial units in Portugal with combined annual production capacity for 1.6 million tons of paper, 1.5 million tons of pulp and 2.5 TWh of electricity.

The Navigator Company is Portugal's leading producer of "green energy" from biomass. More than 50% of the energy generated in Portugal from this renewable source is produced by the Company.

All this has been achieved thanks to the hard work and dedication of a workforce numbering 2,660 employees, as well as thousands of partners in a range of sectors: forestry, logistics, engineering services and industrial maintenance.
